29th March 2005 - 11:09pm I was just about to start putting something here when Jamie's School Dinners came on TV so i'll be back when it's done. 12:19am Ok I'm back. I had a scary thought today. This july it will be exactly 5 years since i've worked in I.T. The one thing I wanted to do since i've been at school is the one thing I can't do now. The way it works is stupid. In some respects it's almost like being a film director. Seriously. Think about it; the old saying is something like 'You're only as good as your last film' if you're in the movies and that absolutely applies to I.T. as well. You absolutely are only as good as your last job and if your last job was five years ago, then you can pretty much forget it. You need current, up to date experience of new technology to get another job, but the only way you can get that is to have a job !. I'm done with it now anyway. I just need to find another career path. Any suggestions ??. I've been looking at cookery more and more over the past few weeks, but i'm not sure i'd really be cut out for it. I mean, it's something i'm getting into - no thanks to Ching's kitchen on cable - but to actually go full on in a professional kitchen, i'm not sure i'd be able to do that. Hey, with any luck i'll win 36 million on Friday and open my own record shop and have crazy adventures in that!. So, in pursuit of my utterly exciting life, do you know what i'm going to do tomorrow?. Probably exactly the same as what I did today .. nothing. Although I do need to get back on the exercise kick again as I haven't been to the gym for a few weeks, so I think an afternoon constitutional will probably be in order.
